While it may be true that the price of oil would drop almost instantly if we simply announced we would drill in ANWR, it might be only temporary, due to the continued growth in world demand on finite supplies (“Drill, & Save, Now . . .” Editorial, PostScript, July 6).
The more prices rise, the more likely it is that companies will put an increased amount of money into seeking alternative forms of energy. It’s the American way.
We will need to do this at some point, as oil is non-renewable. And the sooner we do so, the sooner we can stop giving money to countries that support terrorists.
We will also be putting money back into our economy as we purchase our own resources. It’s a loss for now, but a win-win later.

The 2004 campaign was a crucial election, as the issue was Iraq’s future. This year’s election is even more essential, as both Iraq and our energy self-sufficiency are at stake.
Yet Democrats can only blame President Bush for worldwide oil prices, as their continuing schizophrenic energy policy may cripple the country.
To give them the White House when they impede solar-energy farms, coal mining and drilling, even as countries with poor environmental records drill all around us, could send us the way of the Mayans.

I have developed my own energy plan this election year. I will be voting against any politician of either party who will not commit to increasing domestic supplies.
If a few of our current elected officials are voted out of office, perhaps their replacements will do a better job of representing the people who put them there.

As reflected by the Pew Research Poll showing that a large majority favors increasing domestic energy supplies, high gas prices seem to have brought everyone but Democratic politicians to their eco-senses.
Come November, voters better support pro-drilling candidates to save the economy – and themselves – from these mad Democrats. If not, the Democrats will feel empowered to take gas to $10 a gallon.
We’re on the road to serfdom, and we need to make a sharp right turn.

As the clock ticks, we keep debating about this crucial situation to produce our own black gold.
People make excuses that it takes too long to extract oil or that we should be finding alternatives instead of oil. We waste billions of dollars on inane and selfish entities, so why not do both at the same time?
Liberals have the audacity to say that drilling takes too long, yet it was their man who, in 1995, opposed drilling for oil locally.
We had better do something because, if we don’t, our economy will be in a total collapse.

This is just more proof of liberal myth-making. We can’t get new oil reserves to market in under 10 years? Nonsense!
If we had more people drilling, not only would oil prices go down, they’d go down faster.

Every human toils for a better life, but environmentalists and liberal Democrats are telling us that we have to give up the safety and comforts that make our lives pleasant.
What is happening to human advancement? What will happen to this planet if humankind simply gives up?
Al Gore and other “environmentalists” have created an entire industry to benefit themselves by trying to scare us.
As Franklin Roosevelt stated, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”
We are Americans. There is absolutely no reason why we cannot safely drill for oil off our coasts as well as utilize wind, solar and water energy.
The solution is not to tax us to death, it’s to drill here, drill now and throw the bums out of Congress.
