Given the numerous doping scandals in recent Olympics and elsewhere, I wonder how much of the “science” mentioned by Tom Farrey is performance-enhancing drugs, including those that have not yet been banned (“Golden Age: How the Boss turned Olympians into Yankees,” Postscript, Aug. 3). I’m 47, and I am all for older athletes competing at the highest possible level – as long as they do so legally. Unfortunately, too many of them are products of laboratory engineering.
