Despite its somewhat silly name (the “g” is pronounced like a “j”), this new French gin ($35-$40) is starting to get serious notice from cocktail connoisseurs. Made from distilled grapes, it’s far more delicate and distinctly less alcoholic tasting than, say, Bombay Sapphire. The result is a smoother, less fiery spirit that sets a subtle stage for spicy notes of cardamom and a hint of confectionery sweetness. The complex result makes a fine sipper and an aromatic addition to cocktails.
