The serial scammer currently known as Clark Rockefeller married his first wife in Wisconsin just to get a green card, and then ditched her the day after their rubber-stamp ceremony, the woman’s sister said yesterday.
“I know she was conned,” Beth Litza said of her sister, Amy Jersild Duhnke.
“They didn’t date. They were introduced. They decided to get married – and then he divorced her – to get his green card,” Litza told the Boston Herald.
“After the courthouse wedding, she did not see him again.”
Rockefeller remains behind bars in Boston on charges he abducted Reigh “Snooks” Boss, 7, his daughter with Sandra Boss.
Rockefeller, who was born Christian Gerhartsreiter, was a 19-year-old German immigrant who came to the United States as an exchange student.
Using a variation of his birth name, he married then-22-year-old Duhnke in Milwaukee in 1981.
Duhnke, who is now happily remarried, refused comment.
Rockefeller is the lead suspect in the 1985 disappearance of John and Linda Sohus.
He was their tenant under the name of Christopher Chichester in San Marino, Calif., when they disappeared. “Chichester” essentially vanished soon after.
LA sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore confirmed yesterday that Rockefeller has been positively identified as both Gerhartsreiter and Chichester.
