For every parent who couldn’t score a ticket to the biggest kiddie event of 2008, the Miley Cyrus tour, there was February’s limited-release cinema classic “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour,” presented in 3-D.
And for those shut out of the almost completely sold-out screenings, here comes Tuesday’s DVD and Blu-Ray editions, presented in both regular and 3-D versions, along with a host of extras. Just as the theatrical release set records as the most successful 3-D film of all time, the new Blu-Ray is notable for being the first 3-D film in that format.
Unfortunately, the 3-D effects aren’t quite as stunning as they were in theaters, partially because the included paper glasses with blue and red lenses aren’t as nice as the specs handed out at teh movies. But even on a laptop they’re effective.
There are also five songs not included in the original film, such as “Old Blue Jeans” and “Pumpin’ Up the Party.” Also, the bonus features include a nice 12-minute “backstage tour” with Cyrus that’s as sweet as you would expect from a Disney star.
Finally, “Hannah” fans will have a blast with the sing-along mode, which offers lyrics to the songs at the bottom of the screen.
