You win this round, Mr. Leno.
Fourteen-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps will appear on Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” before appearing on David Letterman’s “Late Show.”
The two late-night talk-show hosts have been scrambling to book as many Olympic competitors possible, but Leno came out on top by snagging the swimming phenomenon.
Gymnast Nastia Liukin, wrestler Henry Cejudo and swimmer Natalie Coughlin – all of whom are gold medal winners – are also scheduled to appear on “The Tonight Show.”
But Letterman isn’t entirely beaten. He will have appearances by beach volleyball gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor. The latter of which will be competing on “Dancing With the Stars” later this month.
Phelps will be appearing on “The Tonight Show” a week from Monday.
