Brett Favre was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for games played the fourth week of the 2008 season (Sept. 28-29), the NFL announced today. In his 257th consecutive start as an NFL quarterback, Favre posted a career-high six touchdown passes when the Jets defeated the Arizona Cardinals 56-35. He completed 24 of 34 passes (70.6 percent) for 289 yards with six touchdowns versus one interception and a 123.7 passer rating.
Favre’s previous career high was five touchdowns, which he accomplished three times.
The Jets’ 56 points were the second-most points scored in a game in franchise history, trailing only the 62 scored against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Nov. 17, 1985).
This is Favre’s first AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award. Favre most recently won NFC Offensive Player of the Week with the Green Bay Packers in 2007 (Week 4).
