Heaven scents
Jasmine. Water lilies. Lilac. Sounds like an ad for the Botanical Garden, right? Wrong! These were some of the elements that inspired the new and limited edition line of makeup created for MAC by Emmanuel Ungaro’s design dynamo, Esteban Cortazar. Cortazar fuses natural palettes with bold colors to create makeup that accentuates a woman’s features in a light, balanced way.
Available Oct. 2 at MAC stores nationwide, $12 and up.

Do not give way to evil is the motto of The Bronx and also the title of Lisa Kahane’s new photography book which captures 55 images of the Boogie Down from 1979 to 1987. The government may have forgotten the borough, as evidenced by the burnt-out buildings and empty lots – but the spirit and soul of the residents was always bright. Celebrate with Kahane and DJ Disco Wiz the launch of the book.
Today, 5:30-7:30 pm., The Bronx Museum of Art, 1040 Grand Concourse at 165th Street. “Do Not Give Way to Evil: Photographs of the South Bronx, 1979 – 1987,” Lisa Kahane, powerHouse Books. $ 35.00.
J.Lo’s desire
If you happen to spritz on Jennifer Lopez’s new fragrance for men, Deseo, expect to be stopped on the street and be peppered with questions. “I wanted people to come up to them and ask what are you wearing,” says the multitasking beauty of the inspiration behind her latest scent. “The Deseo man is a mix, he’s earthy and bohemian – a combination man.” Maybe she was thinking of Marc Anthony when she created the aroma but the singer, actress, dancer and mom of 8-month old twins would not say. “I don’t think of a man when I create a fragrance, I think of more like how people want to feel.” And this woodsy, fresh, clean perfume, she says, feels “muy sexy.”
Deseo, available at Macys. Starts at $45.
