The winner of multiple major national handicapping championships against world-class competition, The Wildcat returns. Including the 1997-2007 seasons in The Post, Cat’s 13-year record in print stands at 354-295 (54.5percent) against the spread.
TOMORROW
VANDERBILT (+4) over Auburn: So long as Tigers’ offensive schemes aren’t a good fit with the talent at hand, ‘Cat will fade this SEC road favorite with the still-underrated Commodores. Expect Vandy QB Chris Nickson’s ouchy throwing shoulder to be fit for battle after Commies’ bye. Points should be at a premium, which makes this plus-four more valuable than usual. Undefeated (4-0!) home dog sails, for one unit.
SUNDAY
BRONCOS (-3) over Bucs: Liked Tampa last week, but they were in a great spot. Now, they must do a heap o’ travelin’ to play Bronco bunch humbled by a woeful Chief team which wanted it more. With their defense, Broncs shouldn’t lay nine on the road to anyone – but the Shanahans can comfortably lay a trey at home to a Brian Griese-led offense. Isolated humiliations can be great short-term motivators to highly paid professional athletes. Broncos keep pouring on the scoring (-3), for one unit.
LAST WEEK: 1-1 (even units). That NOT-out-of-bounds call on final Minny TD was disappointing (Ohio State, minus one unit). Taking full touchdowns in contests which project as field-goal games is very good business (Texans, plus one unit).
SEASON: 4-5 (minus one unit).
