A gynecologist raped a patient in an examination room at Kings County Hospital and then walked her before hospital security cameras as if nothing had happened, authorities and the patient’s lawyer said yesterday.
Charles Bowers, 61, was released without bail after his arrest Monday.
The accuser, a 38-year-old model and actress, was Bowers’ patient for 10 years before the July 23 assault, said her lawyer, Jeffrey Lessoff.
After the attack, Bowers was “extremely calm,” Lessoff said. “He walked her around . . . She thought he was parading her in front of the [security] cameras to videotape her for some type of defense.”
Bowers’ lawyer, Devereaux Cannick, said his client initiated a rape victims’ advocacy program while working at another hospital.
“That’s why we’re so outraged by these allegations,” he said.
