The Las Vegas Review-Journal reveals that sports books in the city are paying off bets as if the Phillies won Game 5 of the World Series 2-1 over the Rays.
The paper’s Web site says, “According to Nevada gaming rules — often referred to as ‘house rules’ — the final score of an official game is determined by reverting to the last completed inning.”
The Phillies led 2-1 after the fifth, before the Rays scored the tying run in the top of the sixth. The game was halted by rain before the Phillies batted in the bottom of the sixth.
It was scheduled to be resumed tonight, but weather has pushed back the conclusion until at least Wednesday night.
