Jets FB Tony Richardson could be headed to San Francisco when he becomes a free agent at the end of the month.
The 49ers have just made former Jets running back coach, Jimmy Raye, their offensive coordinator and Richardson has a habit of following his coach. He was with Raye in Kansas City and then came to the Jets last season with Raye already in place.
Richardson, 37, told the Sacramento Bee that he has not talked to the Jets about coming back next season and that signing with the 49ers is a possibility.
“That’s the one thing I’ve learned about the National Football League — you never say never,” Richardson said. “Free agency starts in February, so you never know. Never say never.”
Richardson’s first year with the Jets was a good one, blocking for Thomas Jones, who led the AFC in rushing.
