Don’t say we didn’t warn you: According to a not-at-all-surprising report in The Wall Street Journal this morning, Citigroup is looking to buy out of its naming-rights deal with the Mets at Citi Field. My prediction: It’ll be Jackie Robinson Park or Gil Hodges Field by the first game. The Mets are going to dearly miss that $400 million, too (minus the buyout, of course). … 1:15 P.M. UPDATE: Citigroup is now claiming that the WSJ story is incorrect. Hmmm. We’ll see how it plays out, but I still don’t understand how Citigroup pulls this off with so much opposition in Washington.
