Dozens of relatives, friends and fellow Marines gathered last night for a “joyful celebration” of the life of Cpl. Julian Brennan of Brooklyn, who was killed last week in Afghanistan.
The 25-year-old hero – an actor who had appeared in off-Broadway plays – was always the “life of the party and wanted to see people happy,” said a friend at the memorial.
Brennan’s dad, Bill, a singer, performed an original work called “Forgiveness” to the mourners at the Picnic House in Prospect Park.
The gathering “was a joyful celebration of Julian’s spirit,” Brennan said afterward. “It’s usually hard to sing during a time like this, but I felt Julian was with me saying, ‘Come on, Dad, do it well.’ “
