WE caught up with Michelle Obama’s stealth stylist, Ikram Goldman, and asked her what she favored for the first lady. “No comment,” she said, but she did tip her hand a bit, showing up at shows such as Rodarte and Thakoon. “I’m always looking for beautiful, wearable things, and New York designers never let me down.” READ: Q&A With Ikram Goldman
**Betsey Johnson may head the list of designers foregoing after-parties this year, but fans of the clothier can still see her do cartwheels if they nabbed a goodie bag at her show. In the bag? A video of Johnson cooking. “I did my cartwheel when we made the video and I thought, ‘What a relief!'” Her secret to successful tumbling: She tapes her palms to avoid slipping on the runway. **At the Jill Stuart show, the sight of birthday girl Paris Hilton reduced at least one young woman to tears of joy, and the paparazzi seemed to forget all about Amanda Bynes and Kristen Bell in their lust for all things Hilton. Less amused were security guards, whom Buzz overheard asking the McCafe staff for “a fifth of bourbon” after dealing with Hilton. “I don’t even know what the heck she was doing here,” the guard went on as he waited for his coffee. “She was just talking to her friends or typing into her phone the whole time. She didn’t even look at the clothes.” Welcome to Fashion Week, brother. MORE: Jill Stuart Review
**Paris isn’t the only fashionista with a Fashion Week birthday. “Sex and the City” costume designer Patricia Field held herself a three-hour Sunday night birthday dinner at Amalia. Guests Mark Indelicato and Becki Newton from “Ugly Betty” weren’t so sure about the Carrie Bradshaw era. “[“SATC”] was before our time,” said Newton. “We’re a new kind of fabulous,” said Indelicato. “And we’re not just pretty on the outside.” – Additional reporting by Raakhee Mirchandani and Brian Niemietz
