Heartbroken relatives of victims from last week’s commuter-plane tragedy visited the crash scene yesterday for the first time, seeing up close where their loved ones perished.
The grieving family members were escorted onto tree-lined Long Street in Clarence and spent an hour sadly imagining the terror felt by victims moments before Continental Flight 3407 went down Thursday night.
The visit was marked by tight security, which included a State Police helicopter overhead.
Neighbor Ann Hess, whose brother was killed in a convenience-store robbery in Arizona, said she understands what the Flight 3407 families are going through.
“You struggle with wanting to know where your loved ones took their last breath,” Hess told The Buffalo News.
Other than the wreckage, there was little left for relatives to see yesterday, as the crash and ensuing fire destroyed the house where the plane struck.
