Barkley: Still suspended from TNT.
CHARLES Barkley is going from erratic driving in his car to taming his erratic drives on the golf course.
Barkley, still under suspension by TNT over a drunk-driving arrest, will star in a reality show on The Golf Channel.
“The Haney Project,” premiering March 2, will feature Barkley, an avid golfer, working with legendary golf instructor Hank Haney “to improve a swing that has been laughed at by millions and ridiculed by his closest friends,” according to a Golf Channel release.
Barkley, an NBA Hall-of-Famer and TNT basketball analyst, was arrested Dec. 31 in Scottsdale, Ariz. and charged with drunken driving.
His blood-alcohol level (.149) was thisclose to what’s considered “extreme” by cops.
Barkley was suspended by TNT, and wasn’t expected to return until after the NBA All Star Game, held last weekend in Phoenix.
Haney, who’s Tiger Woods’ swing coach, has lent his expertise to more than 200 pro golfers. The seven-episode series will feature him and Barkley traveling to golf courses around the country.
It will also feature Barkley interacting with fans, and other celebrities he meets on those golf courses. – Michael Starr
