It is wonderful that New York City will have a new archbishop (“Godsend!” Feb. 24).
Archbishop Timothy Dolan seems like a very down-to-Earth priest.
As a Catholic, it pains me that neither I nor many of my fellow Catholics will miss Edward Cardinal Egan, who seemed more at home in a boardroom than in a local parish.
Let the CEOs run Wall Street, not the diocese.

To be honest, I will miss Egan, but he has worked quite hard and is entitled to some peace and quiet.
If the city is simply a collection of neighborhoods, then the Archdiocese of New York is just a collection of parishes. It is a very big parish and needs a very big pastor to shepherd its flock.
I would like to welcome Dolan and wish him all the very best. I hope he is a pastor to all of us and preaches sermons of inclusiveness.
We are all in different states of grace. Some are overflowing with it, and some may only have a little.
We should share it all and spread the good grace and blessings of the church wide and far. That will make us all good Catholics and better Christians.

I hope, as Dolan takes the reins from Egan, he finds ways to save and spiritually enlighten our churches and our Catholic schools.
As a Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus, I pray that God will lead and guide him with the difficult problems and decisions he will have to undertake in the archdiocese.
