A New York City firefighter was hauled into federal court yesterday for allegedly growing 100 pot plants worth more than $500,000 in a Queens basement.
Patrick Murray, 34, is charged with supplying the pricey hydroponic marijuana to a drug-trafficking ring that has been under investigation by the feds for a year.
Authorities arrested Murray on Tuesday night after an anonymous tipster saw him hauling lights used to grow pot out of the Queens Village house, according to a complaint filed in Brooklyn federal court.
Tenants in the building complained that the basement reeked of marijuana. Cops found Murray – a five-year FDNY veteran with two citations for heroism – sitting in a U-Haul truck parked out front.
He was released on $250,000 bail, and has been suspended from his job at Engine Co. 292 in Woodside.
A law-enforcement source said a second firefighter is also under investigation.
