MARTHA’S RESULTS TURN SOUR
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia reported a quarterly loss, hurt by slumping advertising revenue and writedowns related to its publishing business.
The company, built around lifestyle guru Martha Stewart, said yesterday its fourth-quarter net loss was $8 million, or 15 cents a share, compared with a profit of $33.3 million, or 63 cents a share, a year earlier.
Excluding a non-cash intangible asset-impairment charge of 17 cents a share related to its publishing segment, which includes the flagship magazine Martha Stewart Living, the company posted a profit of 2 cents a share.
Revenue fell to $72.9 million from $118.5 million. The average forecast of analysts was $81.3 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
Shares fell 13 cents, or 5.2 percent, to $2.37 yesterday.
