Police in New York City say there has been an arrest in the fatal beating of an Ecuadorean immigrant attacked in an apparent hate crime.
Police planned to make an announcement Wednesday night. No further details were immediately available.
A group of men attacked 31-year-old Jose Sucuzhanay on Dec. 7 while shouting anti-Hispanic and anti-gay slurs as he walked arm in arm with his brother in Brooklyn.
Police say the men smashed a beer bottle over the immigrant’s head, hit him in the head with an aluminum baseball bat and kicked him.
His brother, Rommel Sucuzhanay, was able to get away and call police.
