Some say three’s a crowd, but not Ike and Erica. During their date at Puerto Rican spot Sazon in TriBeCa, the duo had a blast with each other — and their waiter. Ike, a 21-year-old student, and Erica, a 19-year-old engineering intern, shared laughs and a mutual love for their entertaining server. The couple is already planning a second date, but maybe next time they should consider ditching the third wheel.
He said:
Before the date, I was worried that it might be pretty awkward. Thankfully, Erica didn’t make the experience strained at all. She was easygoing and interesting. For example, she’s an engineering major — not something you meet every day.
We talked about our internships and studying abroad. I was surprised to learn that Erica is originally from DC (where I go to school now) and that she’s lived in LA (where I grew up). That was a funny coincidence and gave us plenty to talk about.
Although I had a great time getting to know Erica, the best part of our date had to be interacting with our waiter — he was a blast! He joined me for some shots, and afterward even invited Erica and I up to his place in Harlem! We decided to pass.
Overall, it was a really great — and memorable — first date. Erin and I had a good time together and are planning on doing it again soon.

When I arrived, Ike was already seated, and looked just like his picture — good-looking. I was nervous at first, but I became comfortable after talking to Ike for a few minutes. We chatted about where we’re from, going to school and things we like to do for fun. We’ve both lived in DC and LA, which made the conversation flow easily, and I could tell that Ike is smart, funny and likes to have a good time.
Speaking of having a good time, during dinner Ike and I made friends with our waiter. He made some great suggestions (even if I was a little surprised when my entrée came out with a head on it!), and after we finished dinner he took tequila shots with Ike. It was hilarious!
At the end of the date, we exchanged numbers, left it with a kiss on the cheek and talked maybe meeting up next weekend. I had a lot of fun with Ike. It’s too bad that we’re both going back to school in a few weeks.
