A Long Island woman was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital last night after she was badly injured in a domestic dispute in Middle Island, authorities said today.
Suffolk County police said the woman was shot by her husband at about 11 p.m.
After attacking his wife, the man fled in a car, sideswiping the ambulance that was en route to aid the victim, police said.
He was also injured after his car hit a tree and taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Police have not released her identity or that of her attacker.
