The heartland has propelled Sarah Palin’s book to the top of the best-seller lists, but “Going Rogue” hasn’t done too shabby in the Big Blue Apple either, according to figures released yesterday.
About 21,000 copies of Palin’s autobiography have sold in the New York metropolitan area, according to figures from Nielsen Bookscan, which tracks about 75 percent of retail books.
Nationwide, 469,000 Palin books have sold, according to Bookscan, which is lower than other sales estimates of 700,000 because it doesn’t track Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club or BJs.
The tri-state area — mostly blue territory — is just a fraction of the sales, but it is still a respectable showing, said Jim Milliot, of Publisher’s Weekly.
“Twenty-one thousand is enough to get on the best-seller lists on some weeks,” he said.
