According to Mike D’Antoni, Nate Robinson is “doubtful” for tomorrow’s game when Jason Kidd and the Mavericks invade the Garden for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
Robinson didn’t practice today and got treatment for his strained right hamstring that forced him to miss the second half of the Lakers’ loss Friday.
Larry Hughes played backup point guard Friday in Robinson’s stead, but D’Antoni admitted the club missed Robinson’s explosiveness. D’Antoni can choose from either Hughes or rookie Toney Douglas tomorrow. (Let’s just hope and pray Nate is back for the slam-dunk contest.)
Because of Hughes’ inflammatory comments from last weekend, don’t be shocked if Douglas gets the call. That would make Donnie Walsh happy. He’d have two of his first-round picks in the rotation vs. the Mavs, with Jordan Hill continuing to solidify his spot and playing ahead of Jonathan Bender.
