The Panel for Educational Policy voted Tuesday to close 19 NYC schools.
The move will affect over 10,000 students; the first schools will close this June and the rest will be shuttered over several years. All eight members appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the one member appointed by the Staten Island borough president voted to close the schools.
