The passing of a neighborhood stalwart has not gone unnoticed in Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill. A makeshift memorial has been erected at Court and Baltic Streets to note the passing of Tom, a homeless man who endeared himself to local residents. On most days, according to local blog Pardon Me for Asking, he would be sitting on a milk crate near a Court Street deli. Blog author Katia Kelly said he was never pushy about asking for money. “It was clear that this was his little corner and he would sit there very comfortable and just say ‘hi’ to you when you walk by. He was a fixture there.”
