John MacLean would not discuss the Devils’ vacant head coaching job, but said coaching their top minor-league team was “very helpful.”
Asked by NJ.com if his one year as head coach in the minors has him ready to take over an NHL team, MacLean said, “”Everybody is going to speculate. I think it was a great experience and I think it was very helpful.”
MacLean would not reveal if he has spoken to GM Lou Lamoriello about the Devils’ job opening created when Jacques Lemaire retired.
Lowell was knocked out of the AHL playoffs in the first round.
