LeBron James isn’t the only free agent the Knicks will face strict competition for.
The consensus seems to be that if the Knicks want to land James they will need another free agent to lure him. And on top of that list is Chris Bosh. But the Raptors forward, who recently asked his Twitter followers what he should do this offseason, will be heavily pursued throughout the NBA assuming he opts out of the final year of his contract. That includes the Rockets, who plan on putting on a full-court press to lure the Dallas-raised Bosh to Houston.
The Rockets will make Bosh their top priority, according to the Houston Chronicle.
“He’ll have options,” columnist Richard Justice writes.
“The Bulls, Knicks, Nets and Heat probably will make offers. The Mavericks and Lakers might be in the mix as well. What might separate the Rockets from those other teams is that Bosh is their first choice. Everything they hope to accomplish this offseason begins with the acquisition of Bosh.”
The Knicks cannot make the same argument, which is what will make this offseason a delicate balancing act for Donnie Walsh and the front office. Can they convince Bosh to come here without James or another superstar? Can they afford to wait for James while teams, like the Rockets, throw max money at Bosh?
