Campbell Brown is done at CNN.
Brown, who anchors the network’s struggling 8 p.m. hour, has asked to be let out early from her contract — and CNN has agreed, it was first reported by mediate.com.
She will continue anchoring at 8 p.m. until CNN finds a replacement.
Brown, who took over from Paula Zahn, has been steamrolled in the hour by FNC’s Bill O’Reilly, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and HLN’s Nancy Grace.
“I knew on the day that I accepted my job at CNN that a ratings victory at 8 p.m. was going to be a formidable challenge,” Brown said in a statement.
“To be clear: this is my decision, and one that I have been thinking about for some time . . . the simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else.”
Brown, 41, is married to former foreign policy advisor Dan Senor.
She spent 11 years at NBC News before joining CNN.
