A worker on the film set of “The Smurfs” took a terrifying 30-foot tumble from a lift during shooting yesterday at FAO Schwarz, bringing production to a screeching halt.
“People were concerned. There were children there,” one witness said.
The drama began at around 6:30 a.m. after about nine hours of shooting at the toy store on Fifth Avenue and 58th Street, the witness said.
One scene involved the character Gargamel, played by Hank Azaria, chasing Smurfs around the store, the witness said.
But it all came to a halt after the victim accidentally fell off a lift.
People on the second floor didn’t see the mishap, but heard police and EMS units arriving.
He was rushed to Bellevue, where he was listed in stable condition.
