Shaquille Turner helped Susan Wagner claim its third straight PSAL Staten Island outdoor track & field title Thursday at Petrides. The senior won the 100 meters in a time of 11.00 and the 400 in 41.40. He helped the Falcons to a 208-152 win over Curtis. McKee/Staten Island Tech was third with 139 points.
Teammate Javierelle Turner placed third in the 400 with a time of 52.70. He was also a member of the second place 4 x 400 relay with Devin Corpus, Blerim Pocesta and Nadir Mahood. The Falcons’ Raul Avalos placed first in the 800 in 2:03.10 and second in the 1600 (4:31.30) behind Curtis’ Jason Stapleton who won in 4:31.30. Stapleton also won 3000 steeplechase (10:10.00) and the 3200 (10:11.90).
Curtis’ Kareem Crawford took home the 110 hurdles title with a time of 14.20, the 400 hurdles in 51.10 and won the 200 in 22.40. Susan Wagner’s William Echevarria (16.20) and Colonel Fakorode (16.40) placed second and third, respectively, in the 100 hurdles and Bilall Bilali was second in the 400 hurdles in 55.70.
Wagner’s Benjamin Ezike won the long jump with a leap of 20-feet 10 inches and was third in triple jump in 41.09, where teammates Allan George was second (41-09). McKee/Staten Island Tech’s Henrique Scot placed first in the triple jump (44-01) and the high jump (6-07). Teammate Jason Bensaull took first in the shot put in 44-11.50 and the discus in 119-09. The Falcon’s Ian Loch was second in 40-07.75 and 115-08, respectively. Bensaull also won the javelin with a throw of 151-01 and Wagner’s Nadir Mohmood was second (106-06).
Port Richmond made it a sweep of the girls indoor and outdoor crowns. It beat rival Curtis 230-156.50. Susan Wagner was third with 93 points.
The Red Raiders swept the top three spot in the 100 meter dash. Tiara Summers (12.70) was first, Terren Huggins second (12.90) and Wilhemina Annan third (13.20). Huggins also won the 200 in a time of 26.40 and Summers was third in 27.00. They were both also members of the winning 4 x 100 relay team with Annan and Shi Anne Humes in 50.20.
Teammates Karim Brooks and Alison Doway were first and second in the 400 in times of 59.20 and 59.60 respectively. Brooks also won the 800 in 2:20.90. Nynneya Columbus won the 3000 in a time of 10:53.61 and was a member of the winning the 4 x 400 with Humes, Alison Doway and Savanah Gillard in a time of 4:11.60.
Port Richmond also won the 4 x 800 in 10:13.50 and swept the first four spots in the triple jump with Gillard winning with a leap of 34-03.25. Sandy Youssef took home the 1500 race walk crown in a time of 8:57.60. MSIT’s Breanna Brukalo placed first in the 100 (16.20) and the 400 hurdles in 1:07.00.
