Pro Bowl could come north, too

IRVING, Texas — New York’s victorious 2014 Super Bowl organizers might have landed a package deal.

A high-ranking NFL official told The Post yesterday that the Pro Bowl could also be headed to open-air New Meadowlands Stadium the weekend before Super Bowl XLVIII.

Frank Supovitz, the NFL’s senior VP of events, said that hosting the Pro Bowl was not part of the joint Super Bowl bid submitted by the Giants and Jets, but remains a possibility.

“You never say never,” Supovitz said. “We haven’t discussed that yet, but it’s definitely within reason. It can’t be ruled out.”

6-1 ODDS ON SUPER SNOW

Prompted by commissioner Roger Goodell, the NFL broke with tradition this year by moving the Pro Bowl from Hawaii to Miami — site of the Super Bowl — and switching the game to primetime the Sunday before the Super Bowl instead of the Sunday after it.

The move was a huge success as this year’s game attracted an announced sellout of 70,697 and record TV ratings on ESPN.

The NFL recently agreed to return the Pro Bowl to Honolulu in 2011 and 2012, but Supovitz said the league has no commitments beyond that.

Holding the Pro Bowl the week before the Super Bowl also would give the New York host committee the chance for a welcome dry run as far as dealing with bad weather.
