RHINEBECK, N.Y. — Authorities say a 64-year-old woman has committed suicide by jumping off an upstate New York bridge over the Hudson River.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office says the woman from Pleasant Valley stopped her vehicle shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge connecting Ulster and Dutchess counties. cm-bd
Witnesses told deputies that the woman parked in the westbound lane, then jumped from the span’s north side. At its highest point, the bridge is about 200 feet above the river.
A boat from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office found her body a short time later.
The woman’s name hasn’t been released.
