Devils diss: Madden says Blackhawks best team he’s played on

John Madden won two Stanley Cups with the Devils, but both teams have to take a backseat his 2009-10 Blackhawks.

“This team is way deeper. Just take a look at the lineup,” Madden told NJ.com before the Blackhawks lost Game 3 to the Flyers to cut their series lead to 2-1.

Madden, 37, was part of a four-year Devils’ run when they won two Stanley Cups and came up one win shy of a third. In 2000, the Devils beat the Stars in six games and in 2003 took down the Ducks in seven. In 2001, the Devils fell to the Avalanche in seven games.

But it‘s his current Chicago team — still two games away from a title — that Madden says is best.

“This is a different type of team, too,” Madden told the website. “Those (Devils) teams were pre-lockout teams. This is post-lockout. There is a lot more skill, a lot more speed. It’s totally different than any team I’ve ever played on, that’s for sure.”

Madden played the first 10 seasons of his career with the Devils before signing with the Blackhawks as a free agent this offseason.
