THE ISSUE: Reporter Helen Thomas’ retirement following her controversial statements about Jews.

Helen Thomas has found common ground with suicide bombers by committing career suicide (“W.H. Crone Resigns,” June 8).

Thomas has forfeited her front-row seat at the White House.
She openly said exactly what she believes, thinks and feels. Her apology is lame, insulting and unacceptable.
Thomas needs to stop thinking of herself as an icon and Washington insider who can say anything she wants and get away with it.
She won’t be missed.

Only under the most anti-Israel White House administration would a member of the White House press corps even consider calling for the expulsion of all Jews from Israel, much less voice it as loudly as Thomas has.
I blame the Obama administration for its continued denigration of Israel and its support of Palestine and Hamas.

Thank you, Helen Thomas, for revealing one of the dirty little secrets of the American liberal establishment: its deep-rooted hatred of Israel.
Thomas was probably voicing the unspoken policy of the Obama administration for achieving peace in the Mideast.

I’d like to thank Thomas for reminding folks that anti-Semitism is alive and well.
Perhaps she speaks to the essence of why so many recently condemned Israel for defending its citizens from recurring rocket attacks through the blockade of Gaza.

It is unfortunate that Thomas was forced to retire after speaking her mind about Israel. I happen to agree with her, although I wouldn’t have worded it the way she did.
No religion should have a homeland. Whenever there is a religious homeland, it creates a caste system where one group is superior to all other religious groups.
I also don’t like censorship. You can’t say anything critical of Israel or draw cartoons of Mohammed without losing your job or your life.
Like Thomas, I don’t accept this form of oppression. I will say whatever I want and encourage others to do the same.

I was outraged upon hearing what Thomas said last week. She subsequently apologized, but, no matter how hard she tries, her apology is meaningless.
A reporter is responsible for what she says. Words are powerful, as we think and communicate with words.
What Thomas said was hurtful, hateful and appalling.
She has no credibility, and her remarks are ignorant. It shows her lack of knowledge when it comes to Israel. Thomas should go back and study history.
I have enormous pride in Israel’s existence and hope to see a day when Israel will exist in peace without hatred and danger.

Please stop printing photos of Thomas with every article about her.
She scares me, and I can’t sleep at night.
