State legislators will OK Gov. Paterson’s emergency spending bill tomorrow — and prevent a government shutdown on Tuesday, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver said yesterday.
“The speaker will not move toward a shutdown . . . We want to bring this to a close,” said Silver spokeswoman Sisa Moyo.
A shutdown would affect cops, firefighters and emergency service workers, and could suspend the state Lottery, delay tax refunds and close unemployment offices.
The bill needs the support of all 32 Democratic senators, but The Bronx’s Pedro Espada Jr and Ruben Diaz Sr. have said they will vote no.
