Bond. James Bond. Goldeneye 007 preview
If you tallied up all of the hours of my childhood that I spent playing Goldeneye for the N64 and turned them into me doing something actually productive, I could have probably figured out a way to end world hunger and solve the global energy crisis.
On beautiful Saturday afternoons you wouldn’t find my friends and I out at the park playing ball or whatever it is normal kids are supposed to do. Rather, we would lock ourselves in our rooms and play multiplayer Goldeneye (Severnaya Bunker, Power Weapons, License To Kill were our game settings in case you were wondering), only taking breaks for life-sustaining reasons i.e. using the restroom and food.
All kidding aside, I did spend a RIDICULOUS amount of time playing Goldeneye, and it looks as if I’ll be putting my social life on hold once again as Activision unveiled it’s all-new Goldeneye remake this week at E3.
The new Wii-exclusive Goldeneye will combine a more-modern twist on the Goldeneye story with new gritty and gutsy Daniel Craig-type gameplay to create the ultimate Bond experience.
The game will feature 40 total characters, including 8 classic Bond characters, 5 maps, 3 standard modes and 16 special modifiers that allow gamers to create hundreds of game combinations. The game will also support online play for up to eight players and the option to duke it out using either the Wii Zapper gun or the Classic Controller Pro for gamers who wish to have a more traditional FPS experience.
Fan nostalgia as well as new gameplay will be a major selling point for Goldeneye 007 according to David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties for Activision Publishing.
“We’re thrilled to bring the new GoldenEye 007 to gamers around the world as an all-new adventure that seamlessly integrates nostalgic GoldenEye movie moments with innovative FPS gameplay and unique multiplayer action that is unrivaled on the platform.” Pokress said.
Needless to say, the announcement of Goldeneye 007 for the Wii has me extremely excited and will be an instant buy for fans of the hit N64 game.
And just to get your mouth watering, here’s the first trailer for the game.
Goldeneye 007 is set for a Holiday 2010 release.
