POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — A 29-year-old eastern New York man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing and killing his 3-month-old daughter earlier this year.
William Tate Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday in Dutchess County Court to second-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse for fatally injuring Reese Tate on Feb. 3 at the family’s home in Amenia, on the Connecticut border 60 miles southeast of Albany.
The girl died several hours later at a Connecticut hospital.
An autopsy showed the baby’s injuries included a broken rib, swelling of the brain, and multiple internal injuries.
Tate will be sentenced June 25 to 25 years to life in prison, the maximum penalty for second-degree murder, and an additional five years in prison on the sexual abuse charge.
