It will cost LeBron James millions if he chooses to sign with the Knicks.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, James can earn the most amount of money by spurning free agency and re-signing with the Cavaliers before June 30.
The upcoming season’s reduced salary cap would cost James $2 million in salary over the next three seasons if he opts out and still re-signs with the Cavaliers. But if he opts out and signs with another team, like the Knicks or Nets, it would cost him $4 million over the next three seasons.

Former NBA player and ESPN analyst Jalen Rose wrote on his twitter account that “It is almost CERTAIN that LEBRON JAMES WILL NOT be returning to the CAVS! “
That’s the good news for the Knicks. The bad news is Rose lists three teams in his post, presumably as possible destinations for James, and the Knicks aren’t one of them.
