Taxi riders beware! Tangling with a cabby could soon get you 25 years in prison.
A bill passed by the state Senate yesterday would make assault on a taxi driver a crime punishable by a quarter-century in prison.
“While it is unusual to design legislation to protect a private occupation, taxi and for-hire drivers make up a particularly vulnerable group performing an extremely important public service,” said Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn), the sponsor of the bill.
