In his Double-A debut, Andrew Brackman went up against the top prospect in the Blue Jays’ system, Zack Stewart, and ended up on the short end of Trenton’s 6-2 loss to New Hampshire.
The 6-foot-10 right-hander allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits in five innings, striking out five and walking one. Stewart was able to do a little better, going 6.1 and allowing two runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking two.
The one bright spot for Trenton was the continuing of Brandon Laird’s incredible season. The third baseman slugged his 19th homer, a solo shot off Stewart in the second inning. He now also has 77 RBIs this year. He is the runaway leader in the Double-A Eastern League in both categories.
