Shot over bike
Four teens were taken into custody after a 9-year-old boy was shot in the arm during a clash over a stolen bike on June 24.
The victim told police he was riding his BMX bike at 5 pm when the crew of teenage thieves swiped it from him and pedaled off.
The child reported the theft to an uncle, who went out with the 9-year-old to find the teens.
Around 11 pm they tracked down the teens on Williams Avenue, between Stanley Avenue and Glenwood Road, on the most northern end of the 69th Precinct.
But during a brief struggle one of the thieves pulled a gun and opened fire, striking the child in the arm.
Responding officers arrested the four suspects.
The child was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was treated and released, although doctors told reporters that the bullet might have to stay in the child’s arm.
Car jacker nabbed
A gun-toting 19-year-old swiped a 2005 Ford Ecoline Van on June 24.
The owner of the car was standing outside his vehicle on East 84th Street, between Foster and Farragut roads, at 7:30 am when the gunman approached and forced him to hand over his keys.
The victim said he threw the keys to the gunman, who jumped behind the wheel and drove off.
Yet, about three hours later, cops caught up with the car thief, and apprehended him at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Lincoln Place in Crown Heights.
Charged up
A would-be thief was arrested on June 22 after he tried to swipe three truck batteries from an East 86th Street address.
Police said that the 47-year-old suspect was in the back of the home, which is between Foster Avenue and Farragut Road, at 11:30 am.
He had the batteries, some marker lights and some burglary tools on him when he was taken into custody, police said.
Stabbed over chain
A man stabbed another man in the neck during a June 24 chain snatch, police said.
The 24-year-old victim said that the suspect approached him on Ralph Avenue, between Foster Avenue and East 78th Street, at 11 pm and asked him about the chain.
The hooligan then stabbed his victim in the neck and ran off, only to be arrested by responding officers.
Robbed of purse
A 28-year-old thug punched a woman in the face and made off with her purse during a heavy-handed confrontation on June 25.
The victim said she was at the corner of Avenue L and East 56th Street at 3 am when the suspect attacked, only to be arrested a short time later.
Stabbed in the shoulder
A 32-year-old was hospitalized following a stabbing on June 24.
The victim said he was nearing the corner of Kings Highway and Flatbush Avenue at 3 am when the stranger attacked, leaving him with a shoulder wound that needed medical attention.
Pistol-whipped by relative
A 27-year-old man was arrested after he beat a family member with a gun during a violent exchange on June 27.
The victim told police that his relative hit him in the face repeatedly with the gun during an argument inside his Farragut Road home, which is between East 59th Street and Ralph Avenue, at 9:47 pm.
Help wipe out graffiti
As the ongoing war against graffiti vandalism continues, cops are offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that can help them arrest neighborhood vandals.
The hefty reward is part of the city’s ongoing push to rid New York of graffiti, the leading quality of life complaint brought to police.
