The city yesterday rolled out a new group-ride taxi stand catering to the Wall Street crowd.
Set to rival the decades-old “Wall Street run” at 79th Street and York Avenue — where bankers split fares amongst themselves on their way to manage the world’s finances — the Taxi and Limousine Commission set up another operation near 71st and York.
Two to four strangers can share a cab to three stops in the Financial District — on Pearl Street, Water Street and at the World Financial Center.
It’s a flat $6 fare for each person.
This follows the discontinuation of the X90 express bus, which had traveled between the Upper East Side and the Financial District, said TLC chief David Yassky.
“This is a practical and useful alternative,” he said.
Taxi brass said they think this route will have more riders than previous group stands in Midtown, the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side.
