Comedy or tragedy? The joke’s really on us

THE ISSUE: President Obama’s appearance on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

***

What is President Obama doing on another TV show (“Turns Out the Joke’s On Obama,” Oct. 28)?

When will Obama start acting like a president?

So far, all he’s done is shove his unpopular agenda down everyone’s throat.

This man is not fit to be president, and his inexperience shows more and more every day.

Maybe Obama should try for his own TV show in Johnny Carson’s old time slot.

Most of us will be sleeping and won’t have to listen to his nonsense. Vice President Joe Biden could be his right-hand man, because they’re both a joke.

I’m sure people out of work just love watching this guy make jokes while the unemployment line grows to out-of-control numbers.

As if the first 22 months of his presidency were not disastrous enough, Obama seems intent on shredding the dignity of his office by appearing on such lame-brained talk shows as “The Daily Show” and “The View” like a B-list standup comic.

Has the man any sense of propriety or of the majesty of the presidency? It would appear not.

Early in Obama’s presidency, he attempted to discredit Fox News as a legitimate news outlet without a shred of evidence.

Next, he went on “The View” to further embarrass America’s image worldwide.

Now he went on the fake news show “The Daily Show.” Is he kidding?

Obama told us he was going to unite America, yet he continues to pander to media outlets that lean to the far left.

In Obama’s view, a liberal “fake news” program is more important than a real news outlet that does not lean far left.

After watching the president’s interview with Jon Stewart, I don’t think it would be out of line to say that Obama may very well be the greatest man to have ever lived.

If you don’t believe me, just ask him.

I never thought I would live to see the president of the United States lower himself and the office he holds to the level that this president has by appearing on late-night talk shows with second-rate hosts and comedians.

This president is not only regarded as weak and ineffective by other world leaders, but also by many Americans.

Obama didn’t act presidential and wasn’t treated with the respect and dignity that office commands.

When Obama said that Lawrence Summers, the director of the White House Economic Council, did “a heckuva job,” Stewart said, “you don’t want to use that phrase, dude.”

Could you imagine calling the president “dude”?

This president has diminished the office that is so highly regarded by so many.

Imagine for one minute a talk-show host calling the great Ronald Reagan “dude,” or any other president for that matter. I can’t.

What is next for President Obama after his appearance on “The Daily Show”?

Maybe the dunk tank at the county fair.

He is one cool dude — not very presidential, but a cool dude.
