A “Real World” star is about to take part in the true story of real world politics.
Sean Duffy, of 1997’s Boston season, has been elected to Congress by the voters of Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District.
The 39-year-old Republican received 52 percent of the vote, giving him access to a completely different sort of house filled with cameras — the House of Representatives.
During his stint on “The Real World,” Duffy was an aspiring lawyer with a penchant for lumberjack sports — he’s a three-time world champion in the 90-second speed climb — and butting heads with his liberal-minded cast mates.
He met his wife, “The Real World: San Francisco” star Rachel Campos, in 1998 when they both appeared on “Road Rules: All Stars,” completing challenges while traveling across New Zealand in a Winnebago. The couple now has six kids. Duffy, himself, is the 10th of 11 children.
Duffy also appeared on “Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Seasons” in 2002, the same year that he was appointed to the post of district attorney for Wisconsin’s Ashland County, a position he held for six years.
While holding the DA gig, Duffy also appeared on ESPN’s “Great Outdoors Games” series, competing in lumberjack events as well as providing color commentary in 2003.
“People aren’t concerned about a reality show from 15 years ago,” Duffy told the Daily Caller last May, adding that his TV past was rarely mentioned by those in his district.
He isn’t the first “Real World” alum with political aspirations, though.
Original “Real World” cast member Kevin Powell, has run for a New York Congressional seat three times, most recently being defeated in the September primaries.
