It’s going to be a green Christmas!
Even if money can’t buy you love, a growing number of Americans believe cold, hard cash is an appropriate stocking-stuffer, according to a survey.
A Consumer Reports study found that 58 percent of Christmas shoppers plan to give cash as a gift this year — up from 44 percent last year.
“There’s something about the flexibility of cash,” said Consumer Reports director of market research, Ed Farrell. “No service charges, no fees.”
“That’s [cash] what I usually give!” said Long Islander Anne Raybin, 84, outside of Macy’s in Herald Square yesterday.
“My grandchildren are grown up and they should make their own decisions as to what they want.”
The survey also found that 62 percent of holiday consumers plan to hand out at least one gift card, a spike from 46 percent last season.
