It wasn’t broke, and they sure didn’t fix it.
Students at the mammoth Lehman HS in The Bronx say the school has taken a major turn for the worse ever since a longtime principal was replaced two years ago by so-called “Super Principal” Janet Saraceno.
Since then, the school has tanked, dropping from a “B” grade to an “F,” with students worn down by allegations of rampant cheating by administrators.
“The new principal would rather fix grades than tell parents a kid is not doing well. Kids expect her to boost the grades,” said senior Radell Heard. “How does that prepare you for college or having a job? What does that teach you?”
Others said Lehman was in utter “chaos” and unable to manage student schedules.
“I went to math class every day, and then halfway through the marking period, I got a zero on my progress report,” said ninth-grader Tyreek Harris. “I wasn’t in the right class — and the teacher didn’t even bother to tell me I wasn’t on the roster!”
Saraceno, who is under investigation and who wasn’t at the school yesterday afternoon, was paid $168,500 — including a $25,000 performance bonus — in 2009.
