A Staten Island pervert repeatedly sodomized and molested three boys over the past several years, police said.
Gilberto Urrego, 49, knew the families of the victims he preyed on, whose ages range from 8 to 15, said a police spokesman.
Urrego’s disgusting acts came to light Oct. 15 when a 15-year-old victim told cops Urrego had assaulted him multiple times between Feb. 1, 2009 and Oct. 4 this year inside the victim’s New Dorp Beach home, according to court papers.
The victim told cops about two more of Urrego’s alleged victims and detectives with the Staten Island Special Victims Squad tracked down an 11-year-old boy that claimed Urrego molested him Aug. 23, sources said.
The attack — just three days after the boy’s birthday — happened inside the same residence where the first victim was assaulted, sources added.
Cops also spoke with another 15-year-old boy who said Urrego had sexually attacked him between July 2003 and July 2004 when he was only 8 years old, according to court papers. Those attacks happened inside the victim’s Tompkinsville residence, sources said.
Once aware of Urrego’s heinous crimes, an alert was sent to various law enforcement agencies, sources said.
On Oct. 19, Urrego was stopped at Newark Airport by Port Authority Police as he tried to board a plane bound for his native Bogota, Colombia, sources added.
Urrego signed an extradition waiver Oct. 27 and was returned to Staten Island yesterday, sources said.
He is charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual act, sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, said a spokesman for DA Dan Donovan.
