US Marshals busted a pioneering TV executive today and held him for Mexican cops, who charged him with the cold-blooded murder of his wife.
One–time “Survivor” producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, 38, was nabbed at his home in tony Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., after a federal judge ordered the arrest.
The body of Beresford-Redman’s wife, Monica Burgos, was found on April 8, stuffed in a sewer near the Cancun hotel where they were vacationing.
The couple had been fighting before and during the Mexican getaway, authorities said.
Burgos, angry that Beresford-Redman was seeing another woman, had raided their bank accounts and promised to give back half the money if the cheating hubby agreed to a divorce, according to Assistant US Attorney Justin Rhoades.
Beresford-Redman told Mexican authorities on April 6 that Burgos went shopping the previous day but never returned.
The couple’s hotel room had a “Do Not Disturb” sign posted all day on April 5 and Beresford-Redman told hotel staff he didn’t need the room cleaned, Mexican cops said.
The sewer was about 75 feet away, and could be clearly seen, from the couple’s room.
Beresford-Redman — with producing credits for reality hits like “Pimp My Ride” and “The Restaurant” — faces a federal judge today in LA.
The TV producer could string out the extradition process for months by challenging the evidence garnered by Mexican cops. He could then appeal the case throughout the federal courts, all the way to the US Supreme Court.
